New Gate System FAQs
Published: July 31, 2025
We understand there have been some growing pains with the new gate operation system. To help clarify the changes and address common concerns, please review the FAQs below:
Q: What are my options for opening the gate?
A: You have several options, depending on your personal preference:
• Entering your numerical code at the gate call box
• Using the HOA-issued multi-code gate opener (clicker)
• Using the integrated system in your vehicle (e.g., HomeLink)
• Using the Summit Sierra mobile app
Q: My clicker or integrated car opener isn’t working properly.
A: You may have an outdated code programmed. Please contact Heather to verify the code associated with your clicker. Some vehicle systems may also require reprogramming depending on the make and model.
Q: The gate only opens partially when I use the clicker.
A: Pressing the clicker button too quickly or repeatedly can interrupt the signal. For best results, press and hold the button briefly (a long press) to ensure the signal is properly received.
Q: The exit gate doesn’t open as I approach.
A: The exit loop has been temporarily deactivated. Vehicles must now be within approximately two feet of the exit gate for it to open and there is a slight delay between approaching and the gate opening, approximately three seconds. This change was implemented to prevent left-turning vehicles from the entrance side from inadvertently triggering the exit gate, which can cause additional wear on the system. The Board will evaluate this trial change at the next Board meeting to determine if it will become permanent.
Q: Has my numerical entry code changed?
A: No. The Summit Sierra system remains unaffected by the recent operator change.Q. What do I do if there’s an issue with the gate?
